Intertwine History

Stawell Intertwine was formed in 1996 following the amalgamation of Stawell Adult Day Centre, Stawell Employment Support & Activity Service (S.E.S.A.S.) and the Woodbine Day Program operating from Pleasant Creek Centre. The new merged service became one of the largest disability service providers in the Department of Human Services Grampians region, offering a wide range of day program activities and supported employment. Since 1996 Intertwine has added respite and brokerage services.

Within the last ten years a range of major service development initiatives and expansion have been embarked upon, including:

▪ Relocation and subsequent expansion of “Greenfingers Plant Nursery” from Pleasant Creek Centre to a high profile Western Highway site

▪ Expansion of the Op Shop and diversification into textile recycling

▪ The extension of our Frayne Street location to provide modern administration offices and more staff support to the Endeavour program

▪ Intertwine achieved certification to comply with ISO9001:2000, an international quality assurance system in 2000 and demonstrated compliance with the Commonwealth Standards accreditation in 2003. Both of theses accreditations are current with audits being conducted regularly.

▪ The establishment in June 2006 of “EmbroidAbility”, a computerised embroidery business offering logo and text embroidery services to businesses, clubs and individuals. EmbroidAbility is run in partnership with McGregor House in Ararat and is supported by Foster’s Mensland. EmbroidAbility was the 2007 winner of the Manufacturing section of the Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Awards.
